14 days of Valentines

I KNOW!   I have not been keeping up with my blog!  But this is too cute of an idea not to share and I need to get caught up.

I was reading my very wonderful friend and neighbor's blog and ran across her cute SIL's blog.  For quite a few years she has been doing "the 14 days of Valentines" for her husband.  You start on the Feb. 1st and it runs until Valentines Day.  You think of cute little things to do for your husband to let him know how special he is to you and how much you love him.  You do this for HIM and not to receive something in return.  It is all about creativity and not how much money you spend.

I decided that I would do this for Dustin this year and I had a lot of fun looking through ideas she has done in the past and other ideas she received from friends.  I didn't have much time to put my ideas together and it is definately something you have to kind of think out.

He was really surprised and felt a little bit weird about it at first.  Dustin said it put too much pressure on him to "out do" me and that he had to think of something really great to give me for Valentines Day.  After much re-assurance, I told him that whatever he planned I would love and to just go with it!!  The kids helped me with a little bit of it and I think they thought mom was just plain weird!  But, eventually they too came around and I think it is good to show your kids that Mom and Dad are real people with real feelings.

I think I will have to start earlier next year but I really want to keep doing it and mix up the ideas year to year.  Here are just a few of the ideas that I did.  Also, you can do anything you want on each day it doesn't have to match the number of the day.

Day 1 -  Little saying with a cute heart Chinese take out box full of bulk Valentine candy.

Day 2 -  Invite for me to cook him a Valentine's day dinner.  Now this should normally be on Valentines Day BUT since he had to work, I had to figure something else out.  He had to work the whole weekend before Valentines Day - it was pretty funny having a candle-lit dinner about 4:30 in the afternoon before he left for work - LOL!

Day 4 - "Four" Necessities for our next date night complete with his favorite candy.

Day 5 -  The top "Five" reasons our dad is the best.  I had the kids help me with this one.  I love their reasons!

Day 9 -  This was my favorite one!!  Dustin loves music - all kinds!  So I made a 2011 Valentine playlist on his Ipod and load Nine love songs in the playlist that I thought reminded me of our relationship.  So now he can listen to the songs and think of us. :)

So, there are just some of examples I used!  Can't wait for next year!!
