A couple of weeks ago, I took Friday off of work so we could take a quick day trip up past Evanston, WY to visit Fort Bridger. We went with Dustin's parents and our nephew Austin. I had never been there before and it is always nice to take in a site with some historical background.
Fort Bridger was originally a fur trading outpost est. in 1842 by Jim Bridger. It was taken over by the Mormons in 1855 and in 1858 the Army established a military post there during the Utah War until it closed in 1890. It is now called the Fort Bridger Historical Site. Several original buildings remain and have been restored. There is also a museum that holds many artifacts, from different time periods, of the fort history.
We had a fun time. Just simple, quality family time. We all had packed a picnic lunch and the Fort has a cute covered picnic table area that we sat at.
